Injured Messi Joins The Argentinian Squad

Lionel Messi’s hamstring injury did not prevent Alejandro Sabella from asking the Barcelona prodigy to represent Argentina in the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Speculations and skepticisms alike surround Messi’s ability to deliver in the world cup. Following the loss to Bayern in the Champions League final bid, many have qualms on whether Messi is fit enough to endure another series of tedious encounters.

With health concerns to consider, one cannot deny the fact that Messi’s absence in world cup, might also compromise Argentina’s campaign to snatch the silverware.

Messi’s world cup appearance is expected. His absence, however, draws too much attention. A player known for his fierce and second to none skills cannot afford to miss the awaited football tournament.

Recognized as Argentina’s third top scorer, Messi’s contributions into the squad are indispensable. During the 2010 world cup, he was a prominent figure in the wins against Nigeria and Korea. Likewise, a battle against Greece made him the man of the match.

In Argentina’s qualifying match against Venezuela, Messi scored the nerve-cracking penalty.

Messi is expected to rally for Argentina against Colombia on 07 June and Ecuador on the 11th. After which, a friendly awaits him at Guatemala.

Given the conditions that he needs to go through, perhaps it is only fit to give the football superstar enough time to recover. Indeed, the wait can take another four (4) years. But for someone who has proven so much, the world cup will be more than willing to wait in order to witness a great show from this great man.
